Dead Man's Party

Dead Man's Party is Oingo Boingo's best selling album, mostly because it contained Weird Science, and back in the 80's you had to buy a whole album to get one song. Also, appearing (and playing the title track) in the Rodney Dangerfield classic Back to School certainly didn't hurt matters.

Dead Man's Party is probably the most tame Oingo Boingo album, or at least most radio friendly poppy. That's not to say it's bad, just that it's a different direction than their more bizarre earlier work. The album is not without its fair share of classic Oingo Boingo tracks. Sure we all have heard the title track and Weird Science, but Just Another Day and Stay are among the top 10 Oingo Boingo songs ever. Plus the album does show some signs of the ecclectic oddness that you would expect from the band. No One Lives Forever is chock full of brooding lyrics and percussiveness.

Farewell is still the best thing Oingo Boingo ever did, but Dead Man's Party is certainly close. It's a complete album.
