Rock In Rio
In the year nineteen hundred and ninety nine it was decreed that there should be a reunion of Iron Maiden with Bruce Dickinson. ANd it came to pass and we were happy. Then came a decree that the same band should reunite with Adrian Smith, and that yea, Janick Gers hath taken up his axe, he shall remain. and it came to pass that an incarnation of Iron Maiden with three guitar players would endure and record a new album entitled Brave New World. So great was the album that Iron Maiden was chosen to headline the annual Rock in Rio festival and play to millions of people in Brazil.
Rock in Rio is two discs worth of heavy metal thunder that begins with The Wicker Man and ends with Run to the Hills. The three guitarist lineup infuses Maiden's live show with guitar riffs that could until then only happen in studio. Most of Brave New World is played during the set, but longtime standards such as 2 Minutes to Midnight, The Trooper, Number of the Beast, Hallowed Be They Name, The Evil That Men Do, make it in as well. Bruce also belts The Sign of The Cross and make's it his own.
Perhaps even better than the album is that there was also a 2 disc DVD release of the concert, so you can listen to the whole thing in 5.1 Surround Sound.
