Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of The Worlds

Few things can actually capture HG Well's classic novel as well as this two disc masterpiece does. Generally the spirit of War of the Worlds as happening right now corrupts the story, especially as time progresses. Jeff Wayne ignored this, and set his version in the time of the novel. Martian Tripods menacing 19th century England are way scarier than them perstering Tom Cruise.

But enough about that. Jeff Wayne assembled an all star prog rock cast to create this album, and in fact The Moody Blues have been known to perform Forever Autumn at their shows. I first heard about this album because Horsell Commons and the Fighting Machine was streamed on ProgRock.com and I was intrigued by the mix of analog synth noise and disco guitar.

Not many people can pull of The War of the Worlds, especially not in progressive disco fashion. I applaud you, Jeff Wayne.
